Call Me Amourโ€™s self-titled debut EP is here and with it comes an EP packed to the brim with bangers forged through each members resilience and journey throughout their respective careers. Released on February 7, 2025, via Circular Wave Records, this five-track EP is a strong start to the band’s career, with each track seamlessly blending dark electronica, heavy riff rock, and pop-infused melodies. But what truly sets it apart is the story behind the band: a group of seasoned musicians who, after years of individual success, have come together to create something entirely new and electrifying.

โ€˜Happy Hellโ€™ kicks off the EP with a bone-crunching bassline and Harry Radfordโ€™s dynamic vocals, which shift effortlessly from harsh growls to soaring melodies. For those familiar with Radfordโ€™s previous project, Yashin, his impressive vocal range comes as no surpriseโ€”but itโ€™s still great to see him back on the scene, giving new listeners a chance to dive into his infectious sound. Itโ€™s a bold introduction that showcases the bandโ€™s ability to balance raw energy with polished production. Subtle at first, the electronic elements creep in toward the end, hinting at the diverse sound that defines the record.

‘Bloom’ follows, featuring a guest appearance from Scott Kennedy of Bleed From Within. This track is a masterclass in atmosphere, blending ominous synths with crushing guitars and Kennedyโ€™s guttural vocals, which perfectly complement Radfordโ€™s melodic delivery. Itโ€™s a standout moment that highlights the bandโ€™s collaborative spirit and their knack for creating emotionally charged, genre-fluid music.

‘Good Day’, featuring Mikey Chapman of Mallory Knox, takes a lighter, more upbeat approach, with an insistent pop-rock guitar riff and infectious hooks. Chapmanโ€™s vocals add an extra layer of warmth, making this track an undeniable earworm. Meanwhile, ‘Whereโ€™s The Chemistry’ leans into post-hardcore territory, with its melancholic undertones and Radfordโ€™s vocal agility shining through.

The EP closes with ‘Dreams’, a haunting yet anthemic track that opens with an โ€™80s-inspired goth-pop vibe before building into a slow-burning crescendo. Itโ€™s a fitting finale, encapsulating the bandโ€™s ability to blend contrasting elements into a cohesive and compelling sound.

What makes this EP truly special is the journey that led to its creation. Before Call Me Amour, the band members had already carved out impressive careersโ€”playing iconic venues like Brixton Academy, performing at Download Festival, and even starring in West End productions. Yet, it was their shared passion for pushing boundaries and their admiration for each otherโ€™s talents that brought them together. This collaborative spirit is evident throughout the EP, from the guest features to the seamless blending of genres.

Produced by George Perks (known for his work with Enter Shikari), the EPโ€™s production is a standout feature, expertly balancing the bandโ€™s electronic and rock elements. Each track feels meticulously crafted yet retains a raw, live energy that promises to translate brilliantly to the stage.

Call Me Amourโ€™s debut EP is more than just a strong startโ€”itโ€™s a statement of intent. With its infectious energy and collaborative heart, it may not break new ground, but it doubles down on the formula the band has become known for. While this might disappoint some, those who love Call Me Amourโ€™s established sound will be left feeling fulfilledโ€”and eager to experience it live. They may have arrived late to the party, but theyโ€™re here to take over.
