Itโs been a long time coming, but Loathe are officially back. The Liverpool heavyweights have announced their long-awaited new album A Stranger To You, set to land on July 17 via SharpTone Records, and theyโre ushering it in with the punishing new single Revenant.
Six years on from 2020โs towering I Let It In And It Took Everything, the bandโs next full-length is being billed as their most โsonically adventurousโ work yet, which shouldnโt come as a surprise if you caught 2025โs Gifted Every Strength. That track now sits at number 13 on the upcoming recordโs 14-song tracklist.
While the full tracklisting is still under wraps, we do know Revenant takes the eighth slot, and itโs a vicious statement of intent. The track also features appearances from NOWHERE2RUNโs Jami Morgan and Eric โShadeโ Balderose, adding even more bite to its already feral energy.
Reflecting on the lengthy gap between releases, bassist Feisal El-Khazragi previously explained that the delay came down to evolution, both personal and creative.
โThe fact is that we were changing as people so much, and that was changing our tastes,โ he said. โItโs taken a while for the dust to settle within our tastes and to land on something that we felt comfortable with, that we can put out and present as a band.โ
After years of buildup, it sounds like A Stranger To You isnโt just a follow-up, itโs a reinvention.
