Let’s be frank, a Sunday night show in the depths of January isn’t exactly prime real estate for a touring package. But that didn’t stop this absolute crusher of a lineup from delivering the goods.
The evening kicked off with LARCษNIA ROษ, the Raleigh, North Carolina deathcore newcomers who’ve been making serious waves since forming just a couple years back. These guys brought their twisted, horror-tinged brutality to the Underworld, and if you weren’t paying attention before, you sure as hell were after their set. “Dental instruments, blast beats, and breakdowns” is how they describe themselves, and honestly? Nailed it.
Aversions Crown turned up the sci-fi chaos next, the Brisbane-based progressive alien deathcore crew unleashing their otherworldly assault on the crowd. These Aussie lads have been crushing it since 2009, and their “progressive alien deathcore” tag isn’t just for show – the technical prowess mixed with those extraterrestrial themes hit different in the dingy confines of the Underworld and felt like an appropriate support given the upcoming Aus tour for headliners BOO.
Then came Within Destruction, the Slovenian deathcore outfit who’ve been genre-bending since 2010. Their anime-influenced, nu-metal-infused take on deathcore brought a different flavour to the evening, and the crowd ate it up. There’s something beautifully chaotic about a Slovenian band playing Japanese-themed breakdowns in a London basement on a Sunday night. If you don’t have their belter of an album animetal in your life already then get stuck in! And go check out our review while you’re at it.
But let’s talk about the main event. Born Of Osiris! Twenty bloody years in the game and still crushing skulls with those polyrhythmic riffs and technical wizardry that make prog fans lose their minds. After waiting 13 years to see the Chicago crew to see the legends finally grace the Underworld stage was everything.
Here’s the thing though (and this hurts to say) the ticket sales didn’t match the talent on that stage. The crowd was thinned out, and for a band of BOO’s calibre, that stings. January dry season on a Sunday? Sure. But these guys deserve packed rooms, not half-empty ones.
That said, Born Of Osiris didn’t let it phase them for a second. The entire crew – Nick Rossi shredding with that ear-to-ear grin, Cameron Losch absolutely destroying behind the kit, and the whole squad clearly just loving every second of it – brought the energy like they were headlining Wembley. That’s the mark of real professionals and genuine music lovers right there.
The technical delicacy was there, the crushing heaviness was there, and yeah, maybe there was something intangible missing, but honestly? When you’ve been waiting over a decade to catch a band live, and they deliver a set that tight while clearly having the time of their lives, you’re not complaining about abstracts.
The verdict? If you slept on this one, you messed up. Born Of Osiris proved they’re still at the absolute height of their powers in 2026, and the whole package, from LARCษNIA ROษ’s horror-core madness to Within Destruction’s anime-infused chaos to Aversions Crown’s alien assault, was worth braving the January cold.
Don’t sleep on Born Of Osiris. Get stuck in. These guys are the real deal, and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
