Suicide Silence are back. The band have confirmed that their new album, Graceless, lands later this year, and to mark the announcement they’ve dropped its title track into the world.
In their own words, “Graceless” is a “short ‘n’ sweet crusher”, a bite-sized blast designed to set the tone for everything the record has in store. The band are also pointing fans towards their podcast, where they break down the song, the video and the album in full detail.
Short, in this case, means it clocks in at under two minutes. Sweet is doing a lot of heavy lifting, because there’s nothing sweet about it. This is deathcore at its most feral: fast, nasty and gloriously filthy.
On the making of the album, guitaristย Chris Garzaย says the goal was simply to “get out of the way and serve that band logo”, trusting that good things follow when they do. It’s a back-to-basics mindset, one he frames as returning to how they operated as kids: “playing heavy shit and doing it from the heart.”
