It’s official we’re just one week away from one of the heaviest weekends of the year!

Next week we’ll be descending upon the legendary Catton Park, Derbyshire for a weekend of mayhem at none other than Bloodstock! Anticipation has been high for this year’s event with headliners Opeth, Architects and Amon Amarth headlining this year’s rendition amongst a whole host of epic bands across the weekend. With that in mind we’re here to share our top picks for acts across the weekend we can’t wait to see!

MIMI BARKS | SAT โ€“ Sophie Lancaster Stage

With her highly anticipated album THIS IS DOOM TRAP dropping on the 2nd of September Mimi has been taking the live scene by storm with her visceral punch-in-the-chest impact. Being one of the only trap metal acts on the Bloodstock lineup and being one of alternativeโ€™s darkest rising stars Mimi is sure to deliver a killer set with her sound starking in contrast to the mainly heavier side of music.

ARCHITECTS | SAT โ€“ Ronnie James Dio Stage

Hot off their recent European tour supporting none other than Metallica and with this being the band’s debut headline slot at Bloodstock Festival on Saturday night no less! Expectations are high and we’re sure the Brighton metalcore giants will be pulling out all the stops for an unforgettable night of mayhem.

HATEBREED | FRI โ€“ Ronnie James Dio Stage

The last time I caught Hatebreed at Bloodstock Festival I distinctly remember a wheelchair flying over my head carrying a dedicated fan to the barrier. It’s moments like these that Hatebreed are known for delivering during their live shows. That was nearly 10 years ago! One can only expect that the same level of chaos (if not more) will be delivered upon at this years rendition of Bloodstock

GROVE STREET | SUN โ€“ Sophie Lancaster Stage

Following the the Southampton crossover crew’s epic debut album last year Grove Street have been busy this year cooking up some new music in time for the summer festival circuit. With their brand new single ‘Divided Kingdom’ dropping earlier this month (which took a top spot on our New Noise Playlist) we’re ready to see what they have in store for their live shows.

OPETH | FRI โ€“ Ronnie James Dio Stage

With a setlist picked by the fans, Opeth’s performance on Friday night is sure to be one to remember. Pair with the reputation of the band’s exceptional skills and delivery of an unforgettable live experience then you have a recipe for one highly anticipated opening night that is surely not to be missed.

LUDOVICO TECHNIQUE | SAT โ€“ Sophie Lancaster Stage

Ludovico Technique, led by the enigmatic Ben V., has consistently added new layers of depth and complexity to the goth metal genre. Their music not only embodies the gothic culture but also pushes the boundaries of what is expected from the genre. Known for their unique blend of gothic, industrial, and metal elements, combined with their critically acclaimed latest album, oh not to mention first ever UK tour we’re interested to see what the band will deliver at their first-ever Bloodstock performance.

MALEVOLENCE | SAT โ€“ Ronnie James Dio Stage

Arguably Britainโ€™s best hardcore band, Sheffieldโ€™s Malevolence have been paving a trail for themselves that seems to be nearly impossible to miss. The Sheffield hardcore crew are set to tear down the Ronnie James Dio Stage for what is sure to be one of the most sweatiest pits of the weekend.

CARCASS | SUN โ€“ Ronnie James Dio Stage

Having caught the likes of Carcass a few times now, theyโ€™ve continued to deliver during their live shows. Theyโ€™ve gone from strength to strength in recent years with killer records and performances, and are clearly enjoying doing it. It’s a safe bet that if you’re looking to ride out the last day of the weekend to some banging death metal then Carcass might be your answer.

STRAIGHT FOR THE SUN | SUN โ€“ New Blood Stage

STRAIGHT FOR THE SUN are a Birmingham-based, metal band that have been around for a few years now. With heavy, mournful riffs and energetic bursts of enthusiasm, SFTS are influenced by โ€˜System of A Downโ€™ and Rise Againstโ€™ so expect a lighter act to fill your weekend (perhaps one to catch before Carcass). That being said the band have been praised for their live performances with many saying they’re “definitely a band to add to your gig wish list”.

WHITECHAPEL | SAT โ€“ Ronnie James Dio Stage

We couldn’t end this list without the inclusion of deathcore giants Whitechapel. Being no stranger to Bloodstock festival the Tennessee band spare no one when delivering their sensational live performance with Anders time and time again being commended for delivering an exceptional live performance. Moshers beware this one is sure to be a messy one.
