Hated, trolled and utterly impossible to ignore, TX2 turn every ounce of backlash into rocket fuel on ‘We’re Going To Hell For This…’…

It’s been a massive period for TX2 as they continue to embark on one of the biggest success stories in alternative music over the past year. They have amassed a huge amount of followers, close to the same as a lot of established names at the top of the scene, while delivering their fearless message of acceptance, individuality and self-expression, which has evidently resonated with millions of people worldwide.

TX2 are no strangers to criticism and online trolling, but remain loyal to their unique sound and what they stand for. The band have been ‘hated’ for what seems to be expressing their authenticity; we can’t deny that it has caused a lot of attention and hype, which they’ve used as leverage to rise up and push forward.

Listening to this E.P., their talents, creativity, defiance and delivery of unique ideas with precision shine through, while they’re portraying their human and musical evolution.

Over the five tracks, TX2 continue to challenge expectations, using intricate instrumentals, catchy melodic sounds and fearless lyricism that confronts identity, religion, trauma and social division without compromise.

The E.P. starts emotively, with haunting poetic vocals and acoustic sounds that quickly reach new orchestral depths, as vocals become more prominently delivered while belted and elongated.

Brave lyricism continues throughout the E.P., which consists of songs showcasing a revelation in real time, a confession, hidden meanings (Is the song ‘Pickup Truck’ really about a pickup truck or something else?), and so much more, with their fearless dedication to their artistic vision and their unique take on creating alternative music. The E.P. includes a collaboration with Reel Big Fish for the song ‘Evil Is Contagious’.

The band really speak to the listener throughout the E.P. with personalised, heartfelt and relatable lyrics accompanied by full throttle instrumentals, which are then stripped back, accompanied by isolated vocals and musical pauses for suspense, bracing us for guitar solos and intensified drumming which set the pace before the bridges become chanted with layered vocals of multiple ranges fluctuating determinedly and dedicated to the emotions behind the music.

Lyrics become more spoken and staccato-sounding before turning to whispers before they’re screamed at all the right intervals, challenging listeners to engage with themes some other artists wouldn’t dare to cover.

Voice-overs are accompanied by guitar riffs highlighting intricacies and vocalised ad libs as twinkling beats sound songs out into reverberated riffs that reach downward scales and become quickly accompanied by synthesised harsh double-timed sounds, political storytelling that’s oozing with attitude and proving they don’t give a fuck about outside perception.

The E.P. has deeper, darker elements to it expressed throughout as the songs intensify, vocals echo out and become harsh and even more emotive, nobody is holding our hands as they deliver shocking lyrics without warning.

TX2 are unapologetically facing their demons, fears and abuse through the music, while nothing can be pre-empted musically with this E.P., which reaches new depths for the band melodically and contextually. We never know what’s coming next- almost like their next post on social media; they’re definitely one of the most surprising bands out there to follow right now.

TX2 continue to push boundaries while remaining impossible to ignore; this new E.P. proves that the band’s greatest strength lies in saying and portraying exactly what they believe, regardless of who or what it challenges.
