‘WIRED’ is shaping up to be all over the place in the best way, and this one’s a sun-soaked, riffy curveball

Basement have shared another taste of their upcoming album WIRED, and it’s a track that leans into a different vibe altogether.

Titled ‘The Way I Feel’, the song lands somewhere between a laid-back skate anthem and a bright, breezy indie hit. Built around a gritty, looping riff and hypnotic vocal hooks from Andrew Fisher, it’s a track that feels instantly familiar while still pushing at the edges of what you might expect from Basement. It’s a reminder that even when they switch things up, they still sound unmistakably like themselves.

Opening up about the meaning behind the single, Andrew explains that it captures the moment right before making a huge decision. “‘The Way I Feel’ is about standing on the edge of something important,” he says, “questioning whether you’ve got the courage to stand up for yourself, while also looking for forgiveness and understanding.” He also hints at a playful edge running through the lyrics, adding that it’s not always obvious when he’s being fully sincere.

WIRED is due out on May 8 via Run For Cover Records, and will also feature previous single ‘Broken By Design’.
