Out of nowhere (and very much to our delight), Arcane Roots are officially back with their first new single in eight years, A Wave, Across The Sea.

The UK alt-rock favourites, now featuring Andrew Groves (vocals, guitar), Adam Burton (bass, vocals), Jack Wrench (drums, vocals), Daryl Atkins (drums, synths, production) and Bjarni Biering (composition, keys, synths), have shared their first new music since 2018, alongside news of live appearances at 2000trees and ArcTanGent this summer.

“When we disbanded in 2018, it was always with the understanding that we could return one day under better circumstances,” explains Andrew Groves. He goes on to describe reconnecting creatively with founding drummer Daryl Atkins, before an unexpected meeting with Icelandic composer Bjarni Biering after relocating to Iceland in 2019 sparked something new.

“Within a short time we felt we had something worth sharing,” Andrew continues. “We started setting the stage to see if this could become the supergroup we’d all dreamed of. We’re still exploring that to this day – the excitement and challenge commands absolutely everything we do, and it feels completely limitless right now.”
