Just days out from the gates opening, 2000trees has already proven exactly why it’s one of the most beloved festivals on the circuit. Here’s who you need on your radar for the weekend.

2000trees is just days away, and yesterday the festival faced a massive shake up, with Alkaline Trio having to drop out of their headlining set due to health issues affecting lead singer Matt Skiba.

While that kind of news could throw plenty of other festivals into chaos, 2000trees stayed cool, calm and collected, and within a matter of hours, despite playing Finsbury Park supporting Biffy Clyro that same day, had brought in Don Broco to fill the headline slot. Massive respect for such a quick turnaround, and for remaining awesome as always, Trees.

So, with that being said, who should you actually be catching at Upcote Farm this year?

Coach Party

Being an Isle of Wighter myself, it would be impossible not to include fellow islanders Coach Party. Having been friends with Guy Page for many years, it’s been fantastic watching this band’s rise. This year saw the release of their latest album, Caramel, with the lead single taking aim at bands who obsess over numbers instead of artistic integrity. For fans of Swim School and HotWax.

A Forest

We have to give A Forest a mention. If you’re unfamiliar, this is the musical project of Matt Hughes (GoodAsGold PR hero), bringing big riffs and huge sing-along moments courtesy of lead single “Something I Need”. We’re looking forward to supporting Matt at the Forest Stage.

Native James

Native James are quickly becoming a name I’m hearing a lot about. From their Download set, you can expect genre-bending that swings from hip hop and grime to punk and metal and everything in between. Live, expect a genuinely high energy show.

Lastelle

Lastelle have been firmly on my playlist since catching them at this year’s Takedown Festival, and it’s great to see them continuing that summer festival run at Trees. My find of the year, think Funeral For A Friend with trumpets. They are vastly on the rise and will be huge.

Glassjaw

Glassjaw might be one of the bigger names on this list, but this is going to be one of those rare moments, as Glassjaw very rarely make it over to our shores. This is going to be a special one for post-hardcore fans, and it’s my specific one to watch for the entire weekend.
