SILOย are a nu- gaze and melodic hardcore band from the Isle of Man who are set to release their debut album โ€œHazeโ€ on the 1st of May under Easy Life Records.

โ€œHazeโ€ consists of thirteen songs which portray survival stories, uncertainties, and self-acceptance as it invites you to feel the journey it takes you on while listening. It’s a unique narrative from the band who draw on the obstacles that living on the Isle of Man holds throughout, while tackling them head-on by confronting their feelings and putting them into deeply personal music.

The record opens tensely with an uneasy-sounding warped instrumental that quickly becomes full throttle and leads into harsh vocals alongside intensified drumming.

Distorted guitars collide with melodic undertones, while intensely screamed vocals deliver messages prominently. Thereโ€™s an essence of fear around being isolated and left behind within the lyrics, but the band are proving that theyโ€™re pushing forward with force while creating meaningful music for people to relate to.

The album is suspenseful throughout while songs reach new depths of intensity, providing harsher screams that echo with visceral frustration around complex issues and tackle topics such as addiction, disillusionment, therapy, love, loss and identity. SILOย never offer an easy resolution, only honesty throughout.

Their music entices us to be fully engaged, as they exude attitude, emotional depth and defiance. Isolated guitar chords are strummed while leading into huge vocal versatility; from staccato and uniquely timed yet poetic lyrics delivered that turn emotive and then back to hardcore unexpectedly, while the band is displaying musically how they’re transforming internal aggression into something more controlled.ย

The songwriting is distinct and direct, and as the album progresses, it begins to be about acceptance rather than resistance, portrayed through their own unique sound while all instruments contribute,ย each getting moments to stand out and shine uniquely but blending together at all the right moments.

Catchy songs with melodic oppositions have that distinct SILO sound that the band have created for themselves. Guitars pick up pace and thrash defiantly while creating musical undercurrents and unique reverberations, as weโ€™re dragged through a range of emotions at a fast pace.ย

Sounds fluctuate, vocals become warped and haunting at times, while instrumentals are played ominously but filled with dedication and consistently pushing musical boundaries.

The last track of the album is completely acoustic and boasts heartfelt,ย isolated vocals,ย while more simplistic sounds still engage us, and are proving that SILOย can truly execute a multitude of sounds;ย theyโ€™re exceptionally versatile.

โ€œHazeโ€ is experimental yet authentic throughout while asserting SILO’s dominance as they break into the scene.

This album is so authentically them,ย and shows how well they know themselves as musicians, who they are, where theyโ€™re from and where theyโ€™re going. I’m excited to see where this debut album will take them.
