A.A. Williams has announced Solstice, her third album, due June 5 via RPM.

The follow-up to 2022’s As The Moon Rests arrives with a new single, Hold It Together, out now. It lands exactly where you’d hope: vast and hushed at once, the kind of song that holds its breath for as long as it can before giving way.

Williams wrote the track around a particular kind of emotional performance, the one where you feel everything and show nothing. “Silence exists where you long for answers,” she explains, “a bleak fragility that you daren’t disturb.” It’s about shrinking yourself to fit a space, dulling your edges, putting on the brave face without being entirely sure who it’s for. “You smile, you carry on,” she says. “Feeling everything, showing nothing.”

Solstice is described as intimate yet immense, delicate yet thunderous, a tension Hold It Together navigates with quiet precision.

A.A. Williams plays ArcTanGent on August 22. Listen to Hold It Together below.
