London quartet Tooth have returned with their second single, Medicine.
Arriving after January’s debut The Age Of Innocence, the new track channels the dissonant cool of Sonic Youth while sharpening the hooks. Frontman Tom Pollock explains: “We wanted to take the chaos of Sonic Youth but dilute it with a bit more structure and melody, and make it catchier.”
While the sonics lean into fuzzy tension and off-kilter energy, the lyrics took on a more intimate direction. “It revealed itself as a love song about an incessant lust for someone,” Tom says. “This ‘someone’ was pretty vague in my mind, but it has a rawness of emotion I was fond of.”
You can catch Tooth live tonight (March 4) at The Windmill in Brixton, before they head out to Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham alongside Keo.
