Having recently re-signed with Fearless Records, August Burns Red have made their comeback official with the release of a ferocious new single and video, fittingly titled Behemoth.

The track marks their first new material since 2023’s Death Below, which was released via SharpTone Records, and the band reveal it pushed them harder than ever during the writing process. Guitarist JB Brubaker explains that the song underwent an unusually intense evolution behind the scenes.

“This song probably went through more revisions and changes than anything we’ve worked on before,” he says. “It was challenging at times, but all the back and forth and reworking paid off. We’re incredibly proud of where it landed, and it stands as one of the heaviest and most unfiltered songs we’ve ever created.”

Lyrically, frontman Jake Luhrs describes Behemoth as a reflection on confronting personal history and breaking free from its grip.

“It’s about recognising how past pain can still influence who you are today,” he explains. “Facing that truth head-on opens the door to healing, letting go, and ultimately becoming someone new. It’s about refusing to let your past dictate your future.”

The result is a track that feels both punishing and purposeful, serving as a powerful statement of intent as August Burns Red begin their next chapter.
