British metalcore has been ever-changing with new artists looking to break the rules and with many ultimately failing to do so. But the Sheffield five piece band Heaven Unknown are doing things a little differently with a fresh new approach that could see the band heading to new heights.
With their Debut EP โIt Hurts The Mostโ coming out on the 12th of July we spoke with lead vocalist Will James to discuss the formation of the band, evolving their sound and breaking through in an ever-changing and challenging industry.
Heaven Unknown comprises long-time friends Will James, Will Sharp, and Chris Delaney, who started the band together. They later brought in Callum Hollingsworth and Tay Crawshaw to complete the lineup. Residing across the north of England, the band comes together and operates out of Sheffield, leading with the tagline โMisery from the North.โ
Coming off the back of the band’s biggest shows to date, one in Manchester and another down south in Bristol, Heaven Unknown is ready to release their debut EP, It Hurts The Most, containing their most recent single “Decline.” This recent release has helped them create waves within the scene, taking influences from a multitude of genres and displaying their range from violence to intimacy through their sophisticated songwriting. Join for the ride as Heaven Unknown carves a path for their new ideology of post-hardcore and genre-bending. Recent plays on Triple J and BBC Radio 1 Rock Introducing are just a few of the accolades the band boasts since getting onto the scene earlier this year.
In May they released their new track โMourningโ which establishes their style of huge, unrelenting verses that combine huge drums, riffs and powerful vocals to be an all-encompassing barrage of the senses. โMourningโ feels both unique and familiar and is a fun track to get involved with Heaven Unknown for the first time.
