The album starts with their latest single offering, โ€œPrison Of Flesh,โ€ which was released with probably the bloodiest music video the world has ever known. โ€œPrison Of Fleshโ€ is a song that expresses vocalist and lyricist Will Ramosโ€™ raw and heartfelt feelings about his family’s history with dementia and highlights how it takes a toll on the individual and the people around them. The track is uniquely complex and starts off with an alluring beat, which intensifies into a full-throttle delivery of hardcore musical execution. It’s a song you can feel deep within your soul. Willโ€™s strong and expressive vocals deliver an ode to those whose voices have been lost through this horrific disease. The way the story behind the song is captured and delivered vocally and musically leaves you with full-body chills.

โ€œOblivionโ€ plays next and was the first offering pre-released from the album and paired with a wilderness-inspired, stunning music video. The song starts out ominous-sounding, and weโ€™re unsure of what is yet to come- until weโ€™re abruptly led into full steam instrumentals and Willโ€™s signature intensified guttural screams. His vocals escalate throughout the track with guitar riffs that perfectly highlight his enunciations. There are pauses in vocals for -brace yourself- effects throughout, which lead us beautifully into the next section of the song.  The whole track comes together in completely unique and hugely powerful ways. Staccato vocals challenge our listening, and the consistent fluctuations within the music keep us engaged with complex drum trills and distinctive sounds, which are delivered throughout.

โ€œIn Darknessโ€ opens with operatic vocals that are soft and gentle and encapsulate a feeling of enlightenment. They become more layered and distinct in range, theyโ€™re emotive and mimic a soundtrack to a heroโ€™s quest, while leading into melodically delivered power chords, which turn into full-scale instrumentals and distinctive screaming. It is authentic and beautifully sounding amidst the chaotic madness of meshed chords, intense rhythms, and hugely ranged screams. Vocals become more isolated and are highlighted at the end of sentences with intently strummed chords and new musical revelations throughout. The song is emotive and delivered in a meaningful and poetic but harsh way, combining sounds which range from complete delicateness to full and complete intensity; it is uniquely clever. Guitar solos are impressively delivered for the bridge, and just when you think the song is over, there are surprise vocals at the end with all instruments arriving combined for one last powerful push.

โ€œUnbreakableโ€ was previously released alongside a music video, which fans got a chance to be a part of, and created a huge air of excitement within the Lorna Shore fan base. The song starts off with intriguingly played chords that are delivered staccato and sharp with intensity. The song is powerful and emotional, with a huge vocal range delivered throughout. The choruses sound mesmerizing and poetic as well as dominant. Impressive guitar riffs become more high-pitched towards the end and lead us to intensified screaming and dedicated instrumentals, which are timed to perfection.

โ€œGlenwoodโ€ starts off unlike Lorna Shoreโ€™s distinctive sound and proves they can push beyond the boundaries of their own self-made sound. Beautiful but defiant lyrics are delivered by Will with emotive feelings alongside powerful, echoed choir-like vocals which accentuate Willโ€™s inimitable sound. There are so many layers and so much depth to this song; itโ€™s uniquely clever within the dedication to its sound. Lyrics are delivered poignantly throughout. The song becomes even more powerful and heartfelt towards the end, with even more musical complexities, and a tinkling fading-out sound leads us onto the next track…

โ€œLionheartโ€ starts off with fading vocals unexpected and uncertain-sounding. A harmonious backing track leads into immediate and imminent vocals, drumming, and power chords. Layered vocal screaming and thrashing sounds are cleverly delivered while acutely executed. So many sounds are deliberately opposing each other, which meshes the track together into a completely complex musical perfection. The incredible bridge sounds powerful with intent and gives the listener feelings of hope and comfort through its dedicated delivery.

โ€œDeath Can Take Meโ€ starts off with intense, choir-like staccato lyrics. Vocals intensify and become lower-toned and delivered with suspense by Will. Drumming is intent with double-timed trills which are delivered full tilt and prominently sounding, while bass and guitars combine all the melodies together. Each instrument is cleverly opposing one another but coming together into such chaos and intensity. Elongated guttural growls are accentuated by the chaos and backing vocals throughout.

โ€œWar Machineโ€ begins with ominous warped sounds until menacing guitars and drums kick in, it’s intense and unsettling- in the best way. There are noise effects of gunshots and screaming, then more intense riffs begin, and more musical layers are introduced. Thereโ€™s an air of suspense for the whole track and feelings of unease while hi-hat and rim shots are hit perfectly on beat and leading listeners into more intensified sounds. Lots of unexpected noises and interludes are introduced at unexpected timings with sporadic intervals and isolated instruments, which then become unexpectedly elongated. Downwards sliding scales matching vocals give an air of impending doom to the overall sound. Incredible guitar solos are delivered manically with high-pitched frequencies when we least expect them.

โ€œA Nameless Hymnโ€ starts off with bells chiming, vocal highlighting, screaming, and chaotic biblical sounds. So many rhythmic textures are given precedence, intensifying the overall sound, which is hugely catchy and monumental. You can hear the emotions behind the screams and the sense of anger and unjust coming from the vocals as thereโ€™s no holding back on the song’s delivery. All sounds are combined intently and purposefully while remaining ominous, and unexpectedly catapulted into chaos. Thereโ€™s consistent strength behind all of the delivery. The song just keeps getting heavier and ends in perfection.

โ€œForevermoreโ€ starts off soft and emotive with classical instrumentals and elongated notes. Female vocals deliver a softened, prayer-like singing and are accompanied by piano and choir chanting. The song becomes intensified by higher-pitched vocals and prominent guitar chords; the sounds climb higher and higher, with dramatic pauses for effect and layered operatic angelic sounds with deathcore litanies. A hope-filled, powerfully chorded and intently worded song that speaks to your soul is so many ways. Itโ€™s hugely moving and definitely created a visceral response for me while listening. Beautiful high notes lead to Will’s guttural, expressive vocals in this well-thought-out and produced to perfection, unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, track. They manage to cleverly capture a moment in time and put it into a song. They have a unique way of making you feel like you belong in a place you never knew existed before. This song transported me to another world. It takes a truly special band that can make you feel this way while listening.

Sounds of crashing waves lead us out to the most beautiful ending of an album I never wanted to end.

Lorna Shore has created a hugely personal, relatable, and inspirational album. Their sound has remained authentic but has leveled up in its entirety. They’ve provoked new emotions within us while laying their souls bare for us to inspect and dissect with their unique way of delivering timeless masterpieces.

Iโ€™m so excited for the world to hear this new offering and even more excited for their upcoming tour to hear how these songs sound live, as I’m expecting they should make for a uniquely powerful and atmospheric show.

  1. […] If 2025 wasnโ€™t heavy enough, Lorna Shore had to come and drop one of the filthiest, most banging deathcore albums of the year with I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me. […]
